Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has praised Pakistan’s current leadership, saying the country’s international standing is improving once again. Speaking at a high-level party meeting in Lahore, he said the respect of Pakistan’s green passport is being restored due to strong leadership at the national level. According to him, this progress reflects renewed confidence in Pakistan on the global stage after many challenging years.
The meeting was held under Nawaz Sharif’s chairmanship and was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and senior party leaders. The session focused on political strategy and development priorities, especially in Gilgit Baltistan.
Diplomatic Progress and National Leadership
Addressing the gathering, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan is once again being recognized diplomatically, similar to the period after 1998 when the country took major national decisions. He credited the combined role of the prime minister, the deputy prime minister, and Field Marshal Asim Munir for this change. According to him, Pakistan’s voice is being heard more clearly in international forums, and the country is moving toward stability.
Moreover, he said that responsible leadership and consistent policies are helping rebuild trust with other nations. As a result, Pakistan’s image is slowly improving, and its passport is gaining renewed respect abroad. He added that this progress should be protected and strengthened for long-term national benefit.
Development Record and Criticism of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Turning to domestic issues, Nawaz Sharif highlighted his party’s development work in Gilgit Baltistan. He said the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz government invested nearly 60 billion rupees in road projects, helping connect remote areas and reduce travel hardships for local people. He described these projects as a basic right of the region’s residents.
In contrast, he strongly criticized the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He questioned the performance of the party ruling the province for the past 15 years. According to him, the province still lacks proper health facilities, and ordinary citizens continue to suffer. He said development should be about real public welfare, not just slogans.
In conclusion, Nawaz Sharif emphasized that unity, development, and strong governance are essential for Pakistan’s future, both at home and abroad.
