Faizabad: Armed clashes between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front (NRF) in Afghanistan’s northern Badakhshan province have suddenly intensified. The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has issued an official statement announcing the formal launch of its coordinated “Spring Operations” by its guerrilla and commando units against Taliban forces in the province, after which the security situation in the region has become extremely tense.
According to a detailed statement issued by the resistance front, its special units have been positioned across various districts of Badakhshan over the past two months, during which multiple armed clashes and ambush attacks have taken place with Taliban militants. As a result, Taliban fighters reportedly suffered heavy casualties and financial losses, forcing them to retreat in several areas.
The National Resistance Front stated that its growing military presence in Badakhshan has exposed the Taliban administration’s claims of nationwide peace and security. According to the front, in an attempt to conceal its failures, Taliban networks have increased pressure on local populations, including house-to-house searches, strict restrictions on movement, and arrests of some local members based on suspicion.
In its concluding statement, the front reiterated its commitment to continue its struggle until the restoration of democracy, rule of law, and the Afghan people’s right to self-determination. It warned the international community and the Afghan population not to accept any so-called peace under Taliban control, stating that peace without freedom and human dignity is merely another form of permanent subjugation.
