Pakistan Condemns Washington DC Shooting, Calls for Global Cooperation Against Terrorism

Islamabad_ The Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan has strongly condemned the shooting incident in Washington, DC, reportedly carried out by an Afghan national. Expressing solidarity, Pakistan extended its thoughts and prayers to the departed soldier and wished a swift recovery for the injured.

Sympathy for Families and U.S. Citizens

The FO also conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the families affected, as well as to the Government and people of the United States. Pakistan described the targeted attack as an act of terrorism and a “heinous assault” on U.S. soil.

Linking to Transnational Terrorism

“For the past two decades, Pakistan has endured countless similar terrorist incidents, with clear linkages to Afghanistan.”

 the FO statement noted. The incident underscores the persistent challenges posed by transnational terrorism and the urgent need for enhanced global cooperation to confront this threat.

Call for Global Counter-Terrorism Efforts

Pakistan warned that the incident signals a troubling resurgence of terrorism on a global scale. It urged the international community to take note and reinvigorate collective efforts in counter-terrorism. Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the United States and the wider international community to address the shared challenge of terrorism.
