Recent diplomatic developments have seen a report attributed to Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, strongly dismissed as baseless and false reporting. International media outlets had claimed that Pakistan requested Russia to mediate between the United States, Israel, and Iran amid ongoing tensions; however, this assertion has been firmly denied at the official level.
Allegations of fabricated statements and misinformation rejected
According to clarifications, the Pakistani ambassador did not issue any statement regarding Russian mediation in the US, Israel, and Iran tensions. It has also been made clear that the ambassador did not meet the journalist responsible for publishing the claim, raising concerns that the report is inconsistent with journalistic standards and appears to be part of misinformation.
Officials emphasize that such fabricated narratives distort diplomatic positions and create unnecessary confusion in sensitive international matters.
Russian mediation report on Pakistan and Afghanistan discussed
Meanwhile, an international publication, The Diplomat, has reported on Russia’s potential role in facilitating dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan amid ongoing regional tensions. According to the report, Moscow has shown cautious willingness to assist in resolving issues between the two countries.
Pakistan’s Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi is cited as welcoming constructive diplomatic engagement and maintaining contact with Moscow on matters of mutual interest.
Focus on terrorism and regional stability
The Pakistani envoy has also reportedly urged relevant parties, through negotiation channels, to encourage the Taliban to avoid using peace opportunities for regrouping, arms accumulation, or launching attacks. He emphasized that destabilizing major and stable states such as Pakistan and Russia through terrorist activities is not possible, highlighting the importance of regional stability and responsible conduct by all actors involved.
