Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s Chief of Armed Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, said that India suffered a major defeat during the four day conflict in May 2025. He claimed that after the setback, India sought a ceasefire through US political leadership.

He shared these remarks during a formal ceremony held at GHQ in Rawalpindi on Sunday. The event marked the first anniversary of what he called “Operation Truth”.

War of 2025 Described as Clash of Two Ideologies

According to Field Marshal Asim Munir, the May 2025 conflict was not just a war between two countries but a battle between two different ideologies. He said Pakistan emerged successful and achieved what he described as a clear victory.

He stated that fighting began on the night of 6 and 7 May. During this period, Pakistan used its air power and advanced missile systems to strike more than 26 major military targets. He also said the response limited the movement of enemy aircraft and weakened their operational capability.

US Intervention Led to Ceasefire Request

Moving forward, the Army Chief said India later realized its military limitations and reached out to international powers, including the United States, for help. He said India requested mediation through then US leadership.

He added that Pakistan accepted the ceasefire in the interest of regional peace and humanitarian responsibility. However, he made it clear that it was India’s need for relief, not strength, that led to the ceasefire.

Warning Against Future Conflict and Regional Instability

Furthermore, Field Marshal Asim Munir warned India against any future aggression. He said any new attempt would bring consequences far beyond the battlefield. He stressed that Pakistan’s defense policy is based on peace, but sovereignty will always be protected.

In addition, he said India is now turning to other methods after failure in conventional conflict. He urged Afghanistan to take action against militant groups operating from its territory. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for the people of Kashmir and said the armed forces remain ready for all challenges.
