Pakistan has rejected a recent report by American broadcaster CBS News claiming that Islamabad provided shelter to Iranian military aircraft during mediation efforts between the United States and Iran, describing the narrative as misleading and detached from the actual diplomatic context.
According to officials and informed sources, the report ignores the logistical and diplomatic arrangements linked to ongoing negotiations and attempts to create suspicion around Pakistan’s neutral mediation role in the region.
Analysts noted that CBS News is now part of the Skydance Corporation, whose management includes figures such as Bari Weiss, often associated with pro-Israel viewpoints. They argue that reports of this nature appear designed to undermine Pakistan’s balanced diplomatic position and complicate regional peace efforts.
Nur Khan Airbase and the Reality Behind the Flights
Sources familiar with the matter said that after the first round of Islamabad negotiations, several aircraft from both the United States and Iran arrived in Pakistan for the transportation of security personnel and diplomatic staff.
According to these sources, the presence of Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase was part of logistical facilitation connected to future rounds of talks and routine coordination arrangements.
Preparations and security measures were reportedly already in place ahead of two expected visits by the Iranian foreign minister to Islamabad. Sources added that American teams also arrived in Pakistan after the first phase of negotiations before later moving to other regional locations.

Questions Raised Over the Report’s Claims
The CBS report reportedly suggested that Pakistan had provided a “shield” for Iranian aircraft against possible US strikes. However, officials dismissed the claim as contradictory and unrealistic, noting that during the ceasefire period the United States did not target Iranian aircraft even inside Iran itself.
They argued that linking the aircraft’s temporary presence in Pakistan to military protection appears to be an attempt to create a false narrative rather than reflect operational realities.
Pakistani officials stressed that Islamabad maintained transparency with all parties throughout the diplomatic process and ensured that all relevant stakeholders remained informed in order to avoid misunderstandings.
Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Peace Efforts
Sources further stated that certain elements appear interested in pushing the region back toward confrontation and instability, which is why what they described as a routine administrative and logistical matter was presented as sensational “breaking news.”
Despite what officials called negative propaganda, Pakistan remains committed to continuing its mediation efforts in good faith and maintaining a constructive role in reducing regional tensions.
Islamabad’s policy, according to officials, remains focused on dialogue, diplomacy, and negotiated solutions in the interest of both regional and global peace.
