The inclusion of 35 Pakistani universities in the QS World University Rankings 2026 has reaffirmed the country’s rising educational standards. NUST and Quaid-e-Azam University maintained their global standing in their respective fields, while the University of Agriculture Faisalabad made it to the top 200.

The internationally recognized ranking body Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released its 2026 World University Rankings, highlighting remarkable progress by Pakistan’s higher education sector. According to the report, a total of 35 universities from Pakistan made it to the global list, including 31 public and 4 private sector institutions.

The results reflect the key role of public universities in advancing research and global academic recognition. The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad retained their positions as the country’s leading public universities. In the overall global ranking, Quaid-e-Azam University stood at 354th and NUST at 371st, representing Pakistan strongly among the world’s top 500 universitie

Subject-wise rankings show Pakistan performing best in agricultural and technical fields. The University of Agriculture Faisalabad entered the top 200 globally in Agriculture & Forestry, enhancing the country’s international profile. In Engineering and Technology, NUST remained in the 201–250 range, while COMSATS University Islamabad ranked similarly in Computer Science and IT. Among private universities, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) secured the 101–150 range in Business and Management, the highest among Pakistani institutions in any subject ranking. Most Pakistani universities fall in the 201–400 range, reflecting moderate global competitiveness.
