A major development has brought relief to residents of Kurram district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the long-inactive Parachinar Airport has been officially reactivated, paving the way for the restoration of air connectivity with other parts of the country.

According to sources, the revival of the airport is the result of coordinated efforts by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Works Organization, and the Pakistan Airports Authority.

Operational Trials Completed

To assess operational readiness, trial landings and take-offs were conducted on April 26 by Pakistan Army Aviation. During these tests, aircraft successfully completed six landing and take-off cycles.

A team of experts carried out a detailed evaluation of the runway’s strength, length, and other technical parameters. Following the inspection, the airport’s runways were declared compliant with professional requirements and international safety standards.

Boost for Connectivity and Emergency Response

Security and defense sources say the reopening of Parachinar Airport will not only provide modern travel facilities to the local population but will also play a critical role during emergencies, natural disasters, and relief operations.
