Peshawar, June 17 , 2025— The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has launched its Monsoon Plan 2025 to better manage rain-related disasters across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This plan focuses on flash floods, landslides, urban flooding, and heavy rainfall.
PDMA prepared the plan in consultation with all 36 district administrations, technical experts, and humanitarian partners. Multiple meetings identified risk patterns and past response gaps.
As a result, PDMA categorized districts into three risk levels: highly sensitive, sensitive, and less sensitive. Relief supplies—such as tents, mosquito nets, blankets, hygiene kits, kitchen sets, and clean water containers—have already been delivered to vulnerable areas.
In addition to regular funding, PDMA has allocated Rs. 205 million in response to recent district-level requests. Officials also confirmed that more funds will be provided as the situation demands.
High-Level Meeting Signals Operational Readiness
To officially launch the plan, PDMA held a high-level meeting in Peshawar. Advisor to the Chief Minister for Relief, Mr. Nek Muhammad Khan, chaired the session. PDMA Director General Asfandyar Khattak and senior officers from the DRM and PEOC units also participated.
During the briefing, DG Khattak shared key insights on district-wise risks, early warning systems, and resource distribution. He highlighted that the authority stands fully prepared for quick deployment and rapid coordination.
Moreover, Advisor Khan stressed the importance of early planning, public awareness, and clear communication. He urged PDMA to ensure strong field-level coordination and quick response during emergencies.
Going forward, PDMA aims to work closely with communities and district teams. Citizens have been advised to stay updated through official channels, avoid hazardous zones, and cooperate with authorities.
With the Monsoon Plan 2025 now active, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa enters the rainy season with a more focused, well-resourced disaster management strategy—ensuring timely protection for those at risk.
