KHUZDAR –May 21,2025: At least five people, including three children, lost their lives when a school bus came under attack in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district on Wednesday. The deadly explosion also left 38 people wounded, according to officials. Today’s blast is a grim reminder of continuing threats and the imperative to protect our children.

The blast occurred near Zero Point. A suicide bomber targeted the bus, which belonged to the Army Public School. The children were on their way to school when the tragedy struck.

Government official Yasir Iqbal Dashti confirmed the casualties. He stated that the injured were taken to local hospitals. However, many critically wounded children were later shifted to medical facilities in Quetta and Karachi.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility. However, the military blamed “Indian terror proxies” for the attack. The ISPR said Indian-backed elements carried out the strike to create instability.
The army called the assault a “cowardly and heinous act.” It vowed to hunt down the planners and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the bombing. He accused Indian-sponsored terrorists of targeting education and peace in Balochistan. He expressed deep sorrow and promised full state support to the victims’ families.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the act. He said the enemy aimed to shake national unity by killing innocent children. “Such brutality will never succeed,” he added.
Furthermore, Balochistan has faced violence for years. Separatist groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) often claim attacks. Though it is rare for them to target schoolchildren, the region remains tense.
Earlier this week, a car bomb in Qillah Abdullah killed four people. Last month, the BLA attacked a train in Balochistan, killing 33. These events have raised fresh concerns about safety in the province.
In 2014, a similar attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar killed over 140 children. That tragedy remains etched in national memory and continues to highlight the urgent need to protect our children.
