In an official statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared, “We condemn the US attacks on the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” The Ministry warned that these strikes are a “dangerous escalation” and could destabilize the region further.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres also voiced concern. He said the U.S. actions pose a direct threat to peace and security and urged all parties to return to dialogue.

High Stakes and Diplomatic Fallout

The situation in the Middle East has worsened since June 13, when Israel began its offensive against Iran. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli cities, killing over 20 people. Israel struck back with greater force, targeting nuclear and military sites across Iran.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization labeled the U.S. strikes as “barbaric” and a violation of international law, especially the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. They accused the International Atomic Energy Agency of silence and complicity. Iran also vowed to rebuild its facilities, praising its “revolutionary scientists” for their resilience.

Meanwhile, several countries including Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland have closed their embassies in Tehran. They cited security concerns as the main reason and began evacuating diplomatic staff.

President Trump said the operation was a “military success” and warned Iran of future strikes. He claimed, “If peace does not come quickly, we will go after more targets—with precision and skill.” Trump also thanked Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for close coordination, saying both countries worked as “one team.”

A Call for Restraint And Regional Stability

Pakistan & Saudi Arabia
Pakistan, along with Saudi Arabia, strongly condemned the U.S. airstrikes, labeling them a violation of Iran’s sovereignty. Both nations urged immediate restraint and called for a diplomatic resolution to avoid further regional destabilization.

United Kingdom
In contrast, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer backed the U.S. strikes, calling Iran’s nuclear ambitions a severe threat to global security. While the U.S. informed the UK prior to the operation, it did not seek British involvement or use of Diego Garcia. Starmer emphasized the need for Tehran to return to negotiations.

China & Russia
China and Russia united in their criticism of the U.S. action. Beijing stressed that the attacks breached the UN Charter and international law, while Moscow denounced them as “irresponsible” and warned of dangerous consequences for regional peace. Both powers urged all sides particularly Israel to de-escalate immediately.

New Zealand
New Zealand took a cautious approach. Foreign Minister Winster Peter advocated diplomacy and warned against further escalation. In a precautionary move, Wellington deployed government personnel and a C-130J Hercules aircraft to assist its citizens in the region.

Kuwait, Qatar, and Gulf States
Kuwait and Qatar refused to permit U.S. use of their airspace or bases, signaling a notable moment of Arab solidarity. During a high-level meeting in Doha, Gulf nations including the UAE, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia jointly declared their neutrality and rejected any participation in U.S. military operations against Iran.

Japan & South Korea
Public backlash emerged in South Korea as citizens staged protests opposing the U.S. strikes. Meanwhile, Japan canceled a planned security meeting with the U.S., citing dissatisfaction with shifting terms and aggressive U.S. conduct. Prime Minister Kishida called for swift de-escalation and restoration of trust.

North Korea
In a provocative twist, North Korea expressed its willingness to supply Iran with nuclear weapons, claiming this would ensure “lasting peace” in the region.

Conclusion

These varied international responses highlight deep global divisions and growing calls for de-escalation through peaceful dialogue for regional stability.

In conclusion, Pakistan’s clear message reflects its commitment to regional stability and its growing role as a voice of reason in a conflict-prone zone.
