Religious scholars from all schools of thought have strongly condemned armed struggle in Pakistan, saying violence carried out in the name of Islam or nationalism only benefits anti-state elements.
The stance was taken in a joint declaration issued after a conference in Karachi under the platform of Majlis Ittehad-e-Ummat, chaired by Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Representatives of all major religious parties attended the gathering.

Call to reject violence and address cross-border threats
The declaration stated that no armed campaign inside Pakistan can be justified under any pretext and warned that such actions damage national stability.
The scholars expressed concern over growing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and urged the Afghan Emirate to ensure its territory is not used by “mufsid” groups.
According to the statement, these elements exploit facilities across the border to carry out, sabotage and terrorist activities inside Pakistan.
The scholars stressed that peace and stability in the region require firm action against militancy. They called for cooperation to prevent any group from using religion to justify violence and urged authorities to address security challenges through lawful and constitutional means.

Legislative demands and broader policy positions
The declaration called on the government to ensure legislation in line with the Quran and Sunnah and to prioritize the implementation of the Shariah system.
It expressed serious concern over prolonged vacancies of religious judges in the Federal Shariat Court and demanded their immediate appointment.
The scholars also opposed any exemption for banks from court orders related to the elimination of interest, stating that the constitutional deadline to end interest has already passed and lifelong exemptions contradict Islamic principles.
Foreign companies operating in Pakistan were urged to fully comply with local laws.
The declaration congratulated the armed forces on the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos and reaffirmed support for Pakistan’s security institutions.
It clarified that madaris remain free in their curricula and rejected Western interpretations of gender identity as incompatible with Islamic teachings.
On Palestine, the scholars opposed any move to deploy Muslim forces against Palestinians and urged Pakistan to resist international pressure, calling opposition to the Palestinian struggle unacceptable.
