Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting with US Vice President J.D. Vance in Islamabad on Saturday, as the much-anticipated Islamabad Talks officially commenced.

High-Level Delegations Engage
The US Vice President was accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior advisor Jared Kushner, reflecting the importance Washington attaches to the Negotiations.
On the Pakistani side, the Prime Minister was joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Focus on Constructive Engagement
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended both delegations for their commitment to constructive dialogue and expressed optimism that the talks would serve as a stepping stone toward durable peace in the region.
He emphasized the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement, particularly at a time when regional tensions require careful and coordinated efforts.
Pakistan’s Facilitative Role
Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, the Prime Minister stated that Islamabad remains committed to facilitating dialogue between the parties involved and looks forward to continued progress toward sustainable and long-term peace.
