Afghanistan’s Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani has welcomed the recent stance and positive diplomatic signals from Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, calling them encouraging for regional engagement.

Addressing a gathering, Haqqani said goodwill initiatives for Afghanistan, including outreach by religious scholars and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, are positive steps that can help ease tensions and promote understanding.

He stated that Afghanistan remains ready to engage in dialogue and cooperation with all relevant parties and considers regional peace and stability a shared responsibility.

Haqqani reiterated that Afghan soil will not be allowed to be used against any country, including Pakistan. He said Kabul is committed to preventing threats that could harm neighboring states and supports practical cooperation to address shared security concerns.

Analysts say Pakistan’s recent gestures of goodwill, combined with Afghanistan’s assurances, could strengthen confidence-building between the two neighbors. They note that the statements come at a sensitive time, as the region faces overlapping security challenges and diplomatic pressures.

Experts add that sustained communication and coordination could help stabilize relations and reduce mistrust. If both sides continue engagement in the same spirit, they say, bilateral ties may improve and contribute to broader regional calm.

Observers believe the latest remarks signal a cautious but constructive opening. Continued dialogue, they argue, will be key to translating diplomatic signals into lasting cooperation and peace.
