An intense armed clash erupted between two Taliban factions in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, resulting in at least two Taliban members being killed and one injured. The incident took place in the Yawan district, where, according to local sources, the fighting broke out between groups affiliated with Rahmatullah Emarati and Haji Safa. Long-standing internal disputes between the two sides are believed to have triggered the violent confrontation. The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Saleem and Mohammad Awaz.

So far, the Taliban administration has not issued any official statement regarding the cause or details of the clash. There has been no confirmation or denial at either the provincial or central level. However, concerns are growing among the local population that these internal divisions could escalate further. Since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, such incidents have not been isolated, with similar clashes reported across various provinces in recent months. Badakhshan, a province previously known for the presence of multiple armed groups, is increasingly becoming a center of internal factional and regional disputes within the Taliban ranks.

Local sources indicate that the conflict is not only over the distribution of resources but also involves disputes over control of local administrative positions and influence, which periodically turn into armed confrontations. The incident has once again raised serious questions about the law and order situation in Badakhshan. Regional analysts warn that if the Taliban leadership fails to address these internal rifts promptly and effectively, the clashes could intensify and significantly undermine provincial stability.

No official response has yet been issued by Taliban authorities, but fear and uncertainty have spread among local residents, who are calling for immediate measures to restore peace.
