Hibatullah Akhundzada, the head of the Afghan Taliban, has said that following his orders is as important as obeying God and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He made these remarks during a seminar held in Kandahar on April 29, where senior finance officials and other key members of the administration were present.
During his speech, he warned that disobeying his instructions would be treated as a serious offense. According to him, such disobedience would be equal to disobeying God and the Prophet. He also made it clear that no future violations would be tolerated. Those who fail to comply, he said, would face strict punishment without any exceptions.
Furthermore, he stressed that no recommendations or personal influence would be accepted when action is taken. Officials were told to fully support disciplinary measures without any mediation or delay.
New rules on accountability and administrative changes
In addition, Akhundzada announced new steps to improve transparency within the Taliban administration. He ordered that all newly appointed officials must declare their assets at the start of their service. Later, when they leave office, their finances will be reviewed again.
If any official is found to have gained extra wealth beyond their declared assets, that amount will be taken and added to the state treasury. This move, he said, is aimed at reducing corruption and ensuring accountability.
He also introduced an administrative change by replacing the term “police” with the Islamic term “Shurta” in official use. A new law regarding this change is expected soon.
Finally, he announced that past acts of disobedience are forgiven and asked for divine forgiveness. However, he ended with a firm message. From now on, he said, any violation will be dealt with strictly and the law will be enforced without leniency.
