Islamabad: The District and Sessions Courts Islamabad have announced the reserved verdict in the high-profile TikToker Sana Yousaf murder case, sentencing the main accused Umar Hayat to death after charges were proven. Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, after detailed proceedings, also awarded a total of 30 years imprisonment along with a fine of 2.4 million rupees.
According to the verdict, Umar Hayat has been awarded the death penalty under the murder charge, while additional sentences of 10 years each were handed down under three separate sections of the law, including robbery and unlawful house intrusion.
During the trial, call records and key mobile chat screenshots between the accused and the victim were presented as evidence, while forensic analysis confirmed that the number saved as “Kaka” in Sana Yousaf’s phone belonged to Umar Hayat.
The defence counsel argued that the accused should be given a fair trial under Article 10A of the Constitution and urged the court not to come under pressure from NGOs or liberal groups. The judge strongly reprimanded these remarks, warning against misleading the court.
The accused denied all charges during the proceedings, claiming no contact with the victim and rejecting any involvement in the murder. However, digital and forensic evidence dismantled his claims. Sana Yousaf was murdered on June 2, 2025, inside her residence in Islamabad, and the accused was arrested the next day from Jaranwala.
