United States President Donald Trump has responded to a letter from Afghan pop singer and women’s rights activist Ariana Saeed, addressing concerns over the deteriorating situation of women in Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return to power.
According to reports, Trump acknowledged Saeed’s appeal regarding the systematic restrictions imposed on Afghan women and girls, particularly in education, employment, and public life. In his response, Trump reiterated his long-standing doctrine of “peace through strength,” emphasizing that US foreign policy decisions would continue to be guided by American national interests and security priorities.
While not outlining any immediate policy shifts, Trump underscored that extremism and instability in Afghanistan remain a concern for Washington. He stressed that any future engagement would depend on tangible changes on the ground, including respect for basic human rights.
Ariana Saeed, who has been an outspoken critic of the Taliban’s treatment of women, has repeatedly urged international leaders to avoid normalizing relations with authorities in Kabul without meaningful guarantees for women’s freedoms.
Despite ongoing diplomatic discussions and international forums addressing Afghanistan’s crisis, the Taliban continue to enforce strict policies that exclude women from public participation, reinforcing global criticism and skepticism over their claims of moderation.
