June 17, 2025: — U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly ended his visit to the G7 summit in Canada on Monday night, citing the escalating Middle East crisis. Referring to the rising Iran-Israel tensions, he told reporters, “I have to be back early for obvious reasons,” before boarding Air Force One..

Soon after, Trump posted a warning on Truth Social: “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” He added, “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!”

His early exit means he will miss meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. The White House confirmed that Trump will chair a National Security Council meeting upon his arrival in Washington.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the deployment of additional military forces to the Middle East. He clarified that these moves aim to bolster defense and not support Israeli strikes against Iran.

Iran-Israel Tensions Spike in Tehran and Tel Aviv

Israeli airstrikes hit several targets in Tehran overnight. Iranian media reported explosions across the city as air defenses tried to intercept incoming missiles. The Iranian health ministry said the strikes have killed at least 224 people so far.

In retaliation, Iran launched missiles toward Israel. Sirens rang out in Tel Aviv, followed by loud blasts as Israeli defenses responded. Israeli authorities confirmed at least 24 deaths from recent attacks.

At the summit, Trump rejected a proposed joint G7 statement that urged de-escalation and civilian protection. Diplomats say this move reflected a sharp division among world leaders over how to handle the growing conflict.

Despite the tensions, Trump managed to finalize a trade deal with UK Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer. He also discussed a future agreement with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who expressed optimism about resolving tariff disputes within 30 days.

French President Emmanuel Macron said, “If the U.S. can help bring a ceasefire, that’s a positive step.” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese added that Trump’s early departure was “understandable.”

Still, Trump’s warning to evacuate Tehran raised fears of further escalation, as concerns grow over the broader Iran-Israel conflict.

His urgent return underlines how seriously the U.S. views the Middle East crisis.
