Following a reduction in tensions between the United States and Iran and a conditional two-week ceasefire, diplomatic activity has intensified.

The administration of President Donald Trump has stated that Iran retreated under pressure, not the United States. The White House further clarified that despite the ceasefire, Lebanon is not included in the agreement, and all relevant parties have been informed accordingly.

According to sources, the United States has announced the dispatch of a high-level negotiating team to Pakistan. The delegation will be led by U.S. Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Saturday, where the first formal round of U.S.–Iran talks will take place.

These negotiations are being viewed as a significant step toward ending ongoing regional tensions and potentially paving the way for a long-term peace agreement.

Israel-Related Questions Resurface

Questions have also emerged regarding Israel’s role in the conflict. In response to a journalist’s query, a White House spokesperson said President Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last night. During the conversation, Netanyahu reaffirmed his support for the ceasefire and emphasized maintaining a strong partnership with the United States. U.S. officials described Israel as an important ally in recent weeks.

Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role Highlighted

The development comes at a time when Pakistani leadership’s diplomatic efforts have played a key role in bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table. Pakistan not only contributed to securing the ceasefire but also extended an invitation for direct talks in Islamabad, a move widely viewed as a positive diplomatic development.

Outlook

Experts suggest that if successful, these negotiations could reduce U.S.–Iran tensions and contribute to broader stability in the Middle East. However, uncertainty remains in sensitive areas such as Lebanon, which could complicate the process.
