Iran’s military leadership has said the country is fully prepared for new confrontations, as US President Donald Trump considers “very strong” options against Tehran over its crackdown on protesters.

The warning comes at a time when Washington is already openly pressuring Iran and encouraging protests, marking a sharp rise in tensions.

Iran’s Major-General Amir Hatami said the 2025 conflict with Israel was a “unique and special experience” for the armed forces, because Iran fought a state backed by Western technology and support on a large scale.

The fighting saw Israeli strikes hit population centers inside Iran while Iranian attacks also damaged several sites in Israeli territory.

During the same conflict, the United States carried out strikes on three military locations inside Iran.

Speaking to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Hatami said the preparations made over the past six months after the 12-day war were “fully appropriate” to deal with new threats from Israel and the US.

His remarks come as President Trump signals a tougher line. After urging Iranians to take over their institutions, Trump has now said he is weighing “very strong” steps to punish Tehran, linking the external pressure directly with Iran’s internal unrest.
