Pakistan has once again emerged as a key center of global diplomacy, with high-stakes US–Iran talks expected to take place in Islamabad on Monday.
A senior official from US President Donald Trump’s administration confirmed to international media that the negotiations between Washington and Tehran are scheduled for early next week, describing them as a major step toward easing tensions in the Middle East.
According to CNN journalist Sophia Saifi, Iranian officials have also confirmed the planned meeting. Delegations from both sides are expected to arrive in Islamabad on Sunday to begin formal discussions on Monday morning. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has finalized all diplomatic and security arrangements for the high-level engagement.
International observers are calling the development a “turning point” for regional stability and a potential breakthrough in reducing long-standing hostilities in the Middle East. Pakistan’s role as host and facilitator is being viewed as strategically significant.
Analysts say bringing two long-time rivals to the negotiating table reflects the success of Pakistan’s balanced foreign policy under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The talks are expected to focus on de-escalation, restoring diplomatic channels, and reducing military tensions. A successful outcome could also positively impact global oil markets and open the door for broader regional dialogue. All eyes are now on Islamabad as it prepares to host what could be a historic diplomatic meeting.
