Pakistan carried out a precision strike on terrorist sites in Eastern Afghanistan , targeting locations believed to be used by militants operating near the border. The operation hit a remote area in Paktika, close to the Pakistan frontier, where militant movement has long been reported.

Sources said the strike focused on a site linked to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, which has been accused of launching repeated attacks inside Pakistan. Initial reports indicate casualties at the location. Early images circulating on internal Taliban communication channels showed bodies of adult males, believed to be militants. However, final confirmation of identities and numbers is still awaited.

Following the strike, Afghan intelligence and defence forces quickly cordoned off the area. Access remains restricted as security teams assess damage and collect information. Journalists are heading toward the site, but officials say the area’s difficult terrain may delay verified updates.

Taliban Claims Questioned as Evidence Emerges

Soon after the incident, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that civilians were harmed in the attack. However, no independent evidence has been presented so far. Ground sources insist the strike hit a known militant location rather than a civilian area.

Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns about TTP safe havens in Eastern Afghanistan, including parts of Paktika and nearby provinces. These concerns have been shared at both bilateral and international forums. Officials argue that the continued presence of armed groups across the border poses a direct threat to Pakistan’s security.

Rising Border Tensions and Security Concerns

The strike comes days after a suicide attack claimed by TTP killed a Pakistani lieutenant colonel and a soldier. That incident reinforced Islamabad’s stance that cross-border militant activity remains an urgent danger.

Security analysts say militant groups often operate near civilian settlements to shield their activities. This tactic complicates the situation but does not erase the core issue of armed groups launching attacks from across the border.

For now, authorities say further details will be released once investigations are completed and access improves. Meanwhile, the incident has once again highlighted the fragile security situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
