Iran, 3rd June, 2025, Iranian authorities successfully rescued ten Pakistani Citizens abducted by a transnational human smuggling network operating in Tehran. Acting swiftly, Iranian police arrested members of the criminal gang who had lured the victims with false promises of illegal passage to Europe. The operation reflects the increasing cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in tackling illegal migration and transnational crime.

Soon after the rescue, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, received the victims at the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran. He confirmed that the traffickers included individuals of both *Pakistani and Iranian origin. Expressing his concern on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “It was tragic to know their horrifying tales of assault, pain, suffering, and the emotional toll on their minds.” Ambassador Tipu also commended Iranian authorities for their “robust police action” and emphasized the strength of joint efforts against trafficking networks.

Survivors Share Harrowing Accounts of Captivity

During their stay at the embassy, the rescued Pakistanis shared distressing accounts of their time in captivity. They described episodes of torture, emotional trauma, and betrayal by smugglers who had exploited their hopes of reaching Europe. In response, the embassy staff offered immediate support and care, prioritizing the victims’ dignity and emotional well-being.

Moreover, Ambassador Tipu reassured the public that officials are arranging the safe repatriation of the survivors. “We are ensuring their return to Pakistan in the coming days,” he stated, underscoring the embassy’s commitment to helping the victims rebuild their lives after the traumatic ordeal.

Ambassador Urges Public to Reject Human Smuggling Networks

Addressing the broader issue, Ambassador Tipu urged Pakistani citizens to stay vigilant and not trust traffickers’ false promises. “I call upon our nationals not to be trapped by these criminals,” he warned, stressing the need for collective condemnation of human smuggling practices.

He also called for greater public awareness and regional cooperation to fight the menace of illegal migration. This incident not only exposes the life-threatening risks associated with human trafficking for Pakistani citizens but also demonstrates the crucial role of diplomacy and law enforcement collaboration in protecting vulnerable individuals.
